Important Notice Regarding New ITF Rules & Junior Division Age

Dear Masters and Instructors,

There has been a change to the ITF Rules which was approved at the ITF congress in Montego Bay.

Please see below the message from Master Ferrando, on behalf of the ITF:

“Dear Members,

This is to inform you that at the World Championship to be held in Jesolo,  Italy on May 27-31, 2015 competitors born in the year 1997 are considered Juniors as approved in the ITF Congress held in Montego Bay, Jamaica on August 2014. Therefore they must be inserted at the online World Championships website as Juniors with no exception.

Junior competitors must be 14 years old at the beginning of the Championship.

The official invitation letter with all other information as well as the WC 2015 website  concerning the World Championship 2015 shall be released soon.”

Yours in Taekwon-do
Master Juan Ferrando
ITF Secretary General

This means that any competitor who turned 18 before the date of the World Championships (between January 1, 2015 – May 27th, 2015) no longer have to compete up as a senior. They now still qualify as a Junior, as the cut off year is and includes 1997.

The CTFI Team Manual has been updated to reflect this rule.  Also, the details for age qualification to “compete up” at CTFI events have been updated.  Please go to the CTFI web site, under Downloads and Resources and review page 15 and 16 of the Team Manual.

Please be sure to pass this information to all of your students, as it could change their category.
