2014 BC Provincial Championship a Great Success

The 2014 British Columbia Provincial Taekwon-Do Championships were held in the beautiful city of Prince George, BC this May 31. In total, 225 competitors from around the province and 18 schools were represented.

The day began with a parade of schools and their instructors, followed by a short opening ceremony to show our gratitude to the competitors, instructors, judges and volunteers.

The tournament started just after 9:00am with the 4-5 year old competitors showing us that the future of Taekwon-Do in BC is bright; well done to all little ones for getting in the ring and performing so well! The rest of the morning was filled with action packed colour belt competition that entertained the spectators for hours and continued through until lunch.

The black belt competition began in the early afternoon, starting with the younger age groups. High level competition was seen in all rings with non stop action and an excellent display of respect and sportsmanship from our black belt competitors. Many positive things were said about the black belt competition from spectators to local media that everyone should be very proud of themselves.

I would like to extend a tremendous thank you to all involved in making this event possible. To the volunteers and the many hours of hard work just leading up to the event, the instructors for promoting the event within your schools, the competitors with such an amazing show of skill and sportsmanship throughout the day and the sponsorship of the many local businesses for the financial support. Finally, to my wife Stacey and my two sons Dominic and Mason for supporting me and helping to make this event a success. My most grateful thank you.
