On June 21st, Fathers Day, Downey’s Taekwon-Do had the largest Black Belt test in it’s 19 year history. A total of 28 students were promoted: 17 were promoted to 1st Degree Black Belt, 5 were promoted to 2nd Degree Black Belt, 5 were promoted to 3rd Degree Black Belt and 1 was promoted to 4th Degree Black Belt.

The test included all patterns from Chon-Ji to their highest level pattern, designated pattern step by step, practical self defense from various chokes, holds and grabs from the front, side, back and from the ground, theory questions on the history and philosophy of Taekwon-Do, pad Drills that challenged the students fitness and indomitable spirit,  1, 2, and 3 step sparring, free sparring, and board breaking.

A special mention goes out to the four fathers and their children who tested for 1st Degree Black Belt on fathers day, what better way to share time with your children than to spend time developing a strong mind, body and spirit through the Martial Art of Taekwon-Do?

It gives me great pleasure to invite all ITF TaeKwon-Do practitioners to take part in a special three day series of seminars with the President of the International Taekwon-Do Federation, Grandmaster Trân Triêu Quân, 9th Degree Black Belt. This event is a unique opportunity to share the knowledge, history and insights of ITF TaeKwon-Do with the President of the ITF; one of only a few Grandmasters in the art today!

To be held August 21st, 22nd & 23rd, this seminar is open to students of all ages and all ranks. We will be offering many training sessions on the different aspects of TaeKwon-Do, including an insightful session on the development of TaeKwon-Do and the “Do” of the martial arts.

This event will be hosted in Prince George, Beautiful British Columbia’s Northern Capital. Situated in the heart of the province, Prince George is easily accessed with multiple direct flights (Air Canada and West Jet) from Vancouver, the scenic BC Rail Train, Greyhound Bus lines, or via the four major highways. An outdoor enthusiasts dream, nestled between mountain ranges, rivers, lakes and expansive forests, Prince George offers exceptional recreational and sightseeing opportunities for the family.

We are very proud to be able to provide this exciting training opportunity to all the members of the ITF and warmly look forward to having everyone come together in the spirit of brotherhood, goodwill and learning!

Respectfully yours,

Kurt Ottesen
